President Barack Obama has asked the U.S. government to stop releasing documents it says show the Chinese government is actively trying to undermine U.N. claims in the South China sea.

The State Department’s Office of Special Plans released a report last week that said it had discovered hundreds of Chinese-language documents that appeared to show Chinese officials trying to influence U.K. and U.A.E. officials.

The report did not identify the Chinese officials.
